Day Seventy: A Slight Change In The Weather...17/12/08
Once more, I find myself writing backdated entries. We've had no Internet for a few days, so here I go again... I suppose dramatic would be a better word to describe the change in weather... This time when we woke up and opened the blinds, we were looking out at a blanket of snow covering the ground
outside. We packed up and made our way North towards the Grand Canyon. Aidan took the first driving shift, and the road conditions weren't so great for the first few miles. However, as soon as we got on to the Interstate we were flying along. By the time it was my turn to jump behind the wheel, conditions grew much worse. When we arrived in Grand Canyon National Park, the last few miles of the journey were done at a snails pace, as it was incredibly slippery. We parked up in 13 inches of snow and battened down the
hatches for the evening. Up here, there is not just a blanket of snow on the ground, but a few extra thick duvets thrown on top for good measure. Temperatures here are well below zero, so for obvious reasons we have no running water in the RV. As fun as it is been parked up in such conditions, it's no picnic having to battle you're way through snow that goes up past your knees, just to use the bloody bathroom!! We did bring out the sleighs that we purchased for the sand dunes back in New Mexico, and once again we behaved like a bunch of 10 year olds. We waited until it was dark though, so we didn't let ourselves down that much.
